Enclosure Selection

The render above is what we wanted the RiffPod enclosure to look like. However, custom enclosures are very expensive to manufacture (injection molding) and are cost effective only for quantities more that 10K units. Our Kickstarter campaign will be for 500 to 1K units. The cost effective option for us is to go for a standard enclosure. Enclosure manufacturers offer standard options with end bezels. Battery

RiffPod has 140 mA of current consumption while streaming data on WiFi. We have decided to go for a 1800 mAh rechargeable battery. This will guarantee more than 10 hours of battery life per charge. The V1 version of the PCB has a problem. The charge management controller has the wrong resistor R29, which leads to very slow charging of the battery. The charging current will be 100 mA, which means it will take 18 hours to charge the 1800 mAh battery! Continue reading (200 words)...

The RiffPod Story

Inspiration can strike in a moment. And when it happens, you want to capture it. In that moment. You think of a tune, you strum it on your guitar, you should be able to record it. No wires, no mic stands, no mixers, no complicated setup. It should be that easy. I wanted it to be. Imagining so, I backed a Kickstarter project called Acoustic Stream.
